DEPARTMENT OF BENGALI

The Department started its journey in 1942, the year of establishment of the College as a wing of Vidyasagar College under Calcutta University. The department is currently imparting UG General and Honourse courses as per Curriculum of CBCS under the affliation of the University of Burdwan since 1960. Present student intake of the department in honourse couse is 97 (ninety Seven) and the curriculum Courses are distributed in six Semesters. The Department regularly conducts inter and intra departmental seminars, essay competitions on contemporary issues where students of various departments actively participate. The department conducts Prof. Debranjan Mukherjee Memorial Lecture cum seminar annualy in memory of Late Prof. Mukherjee who is one of our brightest alumnous and Former Professor of the department. Shri Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, former President of Republic of India was also an alumni of the Department. With this rich tradition the Departmental faculty members are actively engaged in research and extension. Three research Scholars viz. Abhijit Dan, Goutam Mondal and Mousumi Banerjee have been awarded with Ph.D. degree and Piu Nandi have submitted her Thesis in 2020 under the University of Burdwan. To encourage students apart from curriculum department also publishes Wall Magazine, conducts visit to place of interest regularly.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

The Department started its journey in 1942, the year of establishment of the College. From the very inception, the department is imparting quality education to her pupils in UG (General & Honourse) Courses. Legendery Prof. Nanigopal Sen, the then Principal Arun kumar sen helped to grow the child into her hall of fame. Present student intake of the department is 97 (ninety seven) and UG courses are running as per curriculum of the University of Burdwan in six semesters.The Department conducts Annual ‘Binapani Memorial Lecture cum Seminar /Workshop’ on Contemporary Issues by noted guest speaker(s) and best student of the Department is awarded with "Kamalaksha Memorial Prize" annually. Faculty members are publishing articles in the Journals of National & International repute regularly. To encourage students apart from curriculum department also publishes Wall Magazine, conducts visit to place of interest regularly.

DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT

The Department started its journey in 1942 from the very inception of the College under Calcutta University and at present is providing quality teaching- learning to her pupils of UG general & Honourse courses as per curriculum of the University of Burdwan since 1960. Present student intake of the department is 97 (ninety seven). One of the faculty member is engaged in research to complete his Ph.D. degree and others are publishing research articles regularly. To encourage students apart from curriculum department also publishes Wall Magazine, conducts Study-Tour, organizes intra & Inter departmental seminar regularly.

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

The Department started its journey in 1942, the year of inception of the College as a wing of Vidyasagar College, Kolkata under Calcutta University. The Department is under the affiliation of the University of Burdwan since 1960 with present student intake 97 (ninety seven) and UG general & Honourse courses are taught as per curriculum of CBCS since 2017 in six semesters . The Department conducts ‘Professor Tarasankar Banerjee Endowment Lecture’ on Contemporary Issues each year by noted guest speakers and "Tarasankar Memorial Prize" is awarded to student securing highest marks in History based on result in Univ. final Exmination. To encourage students apart from curriculum department  publishes Wall Magazine, conducts visit to place of historical interest regularly. Department also conducts and or particiapate in Intra and inter departmental seminars, Quiz Contests, National & International Webinar/Seminar. Faculty members are actively engaged in Research & Extension work and three Reserch scholars are registered under B.U. for Ph. D. degree. A nubmer of books and edited volumes have been published by the  faculty members in recent past.

The Department started its journey in 1967.  Present student intake in honours course is 97 and the faculty members are imparting quality teaching from the very inception. Honourse and General UG Courses are as per CBCS curriculum of the University of Burdwan and are distributed in six semesters. Field Survey for real time experience is conducted regularly. To encourage students apart from curriculum department  publishes Wall Magazine, conducts and or particiapate in Intra and inter departmental seminars, Quiz Contests, National & International Webinar/Seminar.

The Department started its journey in 1961 and is currently imparting UG General and Honourse courses as per Curriculum of CBCS under the affliation of the University of Burdwan.  Present student intake of the department in honourse couse is 97 (ninety Seven) and the curriculum Courses are distributed in six Semesters. The Department regularly conducts inter and intra departmental seminars, Lecture series on Curriculum and contemporary issues, State & National level seminars/webinars where students, teachers of various departments and higher educational institutions actively participate.  Departmental faculty members are actively engaged in research and extension. Three of the faculty members are persuing research for Ph.D. degree.To encourage students apart from curriculum department also publishes Wall Magazine, conducts visit to place of interest regularly.

The Department started its journey in 1942 from the very inception of the College. Present student intake of the Department in honours course is 40 (forty). Honourse and General UG Courses are as per CBCS curriculum of the University of Burdwan and are taught in six semesters.Field Survey to assess socio economic status of the rural people is conducted regularly by the Department. To encourage students apart from curriculum department  publishes Wall Magazine, conducts and or particiapate in Intra and inter departmental seminars, Quiz Contests, etc. Faculty members publishes research articles in reputed journals regularly.

The Department started its journey in 2007 to impart "Carrier oriented Programme" Course for UG students of the College and subsequently upgraded to Honours teaching department in 2012 under the affiliation to the University of Burdwan. Present student intake of the department is 41 (forty one) and the department is imparting quality teaching learning in UG Honours course CBCS curriculum of BU in six Semesters. Apart from the course curriculum department conducts Field survey, Documentary Preparation, Radio Project, Page Make up, Print Advertisement, intra and inter departmental seminars, publish wall Magazine regularly.

The Department started its journey in 2010 to impart UG general Course curricum in the subject as an associated department of Arts faculty and is subsequently upgraded to Honours teaching department in 2013 under the affiliation to the University of Burdwan. Present student intake of the department is 35 (thirty five) and the department is imparting quality teaching learning in UG Honours and General course CBCS curriculum of BU in Semesters. Faculty members are actively engaged research and publishing in national and international research journals regularly. Department conducts intra and inter departmental seminars, publish wall Magazine and arrange field visits regularly.
